Happy VoIP Easter

Who knows, maybe the Holy Spirit was really on Earth for the last Easter times? At least, It seemed to inspire those two initiatives. On the “Holy Thursday”, San Fransisco based start-up GrandCentral Communications debuted a free Internet voice-mail service for the homeless. The city council of course participates to the initiative and shelters of the Project Homeless Connect are among the first place to provide the service.
Voice mail can be checked using a personal identification number from any phone. David Lazarus, who reported about this, indicates there are no ads or other giveaways. GrandCentral… “grand generosity”, fabulous, even if its CEO Craig Walker acknowledged that the free Internet voice-mail service will be part of GrandCentral’s operation.
On the very same day, Vonage Canada announced their new partnership with CARP, a Canada national advocacy organization for the senior, to provide a special offer to CARP members. But this time, “special offer” implies two months free for new subscriptions, plus a free Linksys RTP300 phone adapter, free shipping and free activation.
Even if the package isn’t as generous as GrandCentral’s action, the initiative is still kind. Especially when CARP announces 400,000 members across the country.
