Comverse founder betrayed by a Skype call

Reality check: Skype offers confidentiality but not anonymity. Jacob ‘Kobi’ Alexander now knows it too well.
The founder of Comverse (see a short bio here), accused of financial frauding in the US, has been one of America’s most wanted men since he fled the country in August 15. Tipsters said he went back to Israel, or buried himself somewhere in Switzerland. But Alexander was tracked down to the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo after he placed a one-minute call using Skype.
Few details are known about the investigation methods used by the private detective who found the fugitive. The Register suggested that “perhaps Alexander was traced not by call tapping but by monitoring the phone numbers of a call he made to an associate. It’s known that a user’s IP is logged and tracked when they log into a Skype server.”
