In broadband penetration, China trails behind the US. But for now only.

According to analysts, right next year, China will become the world’s largest broadband Internet market. Reaching 79 million users for Ovum, a lot less for Leichtman Research which forecasts 51 million.

What all those new users would do? Chatting, indeed, because VoIP calls are still ‘officially’ prohibited until 2008. The whole South-East Asia region currently shows one of the hottest activity, and it won’t stop.

But Chinese users would also get hooked by video games. The NY Times yesterday reports that “there are more than three million players in China, and slightly fewer than two million in the United States,” who play at World of Warcraft, only.
