Cell phone, hmm, game controller, oh yeah!

If we tell you: Take this device. Turn it on. Swing it like a sword, and sweat; direct an orchestra, and sweat; play tennis… and sweat even more than for your first date ever. What would you think? The Nintendo new Wii game controller… Wrong answer.

It’s your cellphone.

This thing used to be as the calling device. But researchers and cellphone engineers are working to turn cellphones into motion-sensing game controllers, in order to “augment” (the generic word) the reality of your kitchen, the subway, or every casual environment into a tennis yard or a concert hall.

AR Tennis, from the Human Interface Technology Laboratory, and Human Pacman are among the first game to integrate the technology, Wired says. And we bet that quite soon, some Quake or Counter Strike motion-sensing game clones will make their appear. At least, they’re not killing for real.
