Screening voicemails for free

This one is to make us popular, and to demonstrate that screening voicemails services are giddying these days. (Yeah, it’s not always cheap flat rates down here in convergence shack.)

Via textually, CallWave, an on-demand communication services company, brought out a service suite called Cellphone 2.0 that includes:

  • Screen voicemail messages as they are being left,
  • Transfer those calls to your home/office phone,
  • Receive voicemail messages by email,
  • Take cell phone calls over your computer, even when your phone is off ― because phone calls are routed over IP.

The service isn’t that new, and we’re expecting Windows Live to provide a replica. After all, Windows Live Voicemail can record all your phone calls and lately, Microsoft is expected to set its own mobile carrier. But as good as Callwave can provide, the best of its service is that it’s free. Free as in free beer, not as in open source, but you can enjoy it.
