Converged media to free employees from their desks. That’s the tagline of a new service launched this week by British Telecoms.
BT’s Office Anywhere will provide Windows PC-like functionality with real-time access to e-mail, calendar, contacts, documents and to the web, plus VoIP phone calls from a smartphone. The handset compatible with the service, the quad-band HTC S620, is currently available free-of-charge to those signing up for a new contract.
Three plans are available, range from about 60 euros to about 110 euros. All packages include unlimited calls to UK landline numbers via mobile VoIP in Wi-Fi locations. Calls to mobiles are capped at 25 pence for up to an hour and international VoIP calls from the UK to landlines are capped at 10 pence or 20 pence for up to an hour depending on location.
