Apple might develop an instant messaging cellphone

When T-Mobile CEO Robert Dotson unveiled its company’s $4.2 billion plan to extend its 3G network, he added that “Apple desktop machines were a ‘great precursor’ of where he thinks the 3G market is going.” And he’ll be right if this rumor on Apple is true: Besides the iPhone(s), Apple is developing another cellular handset, this one with instant messaging features. The eventual phone “will leverage off existing iChat software that runs on Macs,” said MacNN quoting analyst Shaw Wu, and could be named “iChat Mobile”.
Shaw Wu, senior analyst for American Technology Research consultancy, might once again smell a juicy Apple product. Previously, he was one of the industry analysts that forecast Apple would enter the MVNO market this summer, and he’s the one who told the press that the iPhone development was near completion last September.
