No more in-flight phone service for Airfone

Previously, we said that Boeing Connexion stalled its activities. That’s not the only one. Verizon Airfone also steps out from in-flight phone services.

For now, the stop only concerns commercial airliners for now, Airfone will keep providing its service on 3,400 corporate and government planes. But that still makes about 1,000 airplane systems to unmount.

“The company’s decision to stop selling phone service on commercial airlines is not a complete surprise. Last month, it dropped out of an auction for two licenses to provide in-flight broadband Internet services,” wrote the NY Times.
