A new instant messaging worm is hitting AIM on Windows OS. W32.pipeline is its name. Its propagation is classic, yet viral; the worm uses the IM contact list to spread out. Network security provider FaceTime qualify the worm as a high thread.

W32.pipeline initially appears as an instant message from a familiar contact, according FaceTime. A message appears asking users to click on a link to upload a picture of themselves but loads image18.com, the infested command file. Once opened, the worm buries itself into the Windows system folder.

So watch out.
