Mobile provider 3: No more roaming fees
-

-
British mobile provider 3 has made an impressive step into the deregulation of the telecoms market. It abolished roaming charges for its UK customers in seven nations, meaning its UK users won’t be charged for calling or receiving calls or text message on their regular cellphone when on trip.
The roaming escape is announced for seven countries — Italy, Australia, the Republic of Ireland, Austria, Hong Kong, Sweden and Denmark. The company confirmed to the BBC that calls from any of the seven countries back to the UK would come under the user’s usual monthly call allowance, and be exactly the same as if they were making a domestic call.
You may recall Three by its aggressive move in converged media in November last year. Its X-series mobile offers IPTV, Skype, and instant messengers among other services.
This year, in 2007, the European telecoms market would know significant evolutions, as many companies expected some new policies on lower roaming fees. Under the German presidency turn which has started early this month, there might be some advances in the case.
